Midea 1.7cf Refrigerator review

Depending on the size of your family and how often you eat at home, you may find your fridge overflowing with groceries, food and beverages, some of which may not be able to fit into the refrigerator.  While you can opt to throw this food out, doing so is a waste especially when you consider the high prices of food.

Another good option is to purchase a compact refrigerator such as the Midea 1.7 Cubic Foot Refrigerator White in color.  This unit is very cheap, coming in at only $60 and despite the small capacity offers enough space for a few cans of beer and some food, or excess food which won’t fit in the primary fridge.

Refrigerator Features

One of the most notable features of this fridge is its overall small size and small storage capacity.  Measuring only 17.7 x 22.4 x 19.3 inches this fridge is small enough to fit virtually anywhere.

Despite the small storage capacity of 1.7 cubic feet many people are thoroughly surprised by the amount of things they are able to fit into the fridge.  Adding to its versatility is the reversible hinges on the door, meaning the door can be rigged to swing open to either the left or right, further increasing the possible locations the refrigerator can be placed.

The small size of the fridge means it draws only a small amount of power for operation.  Estimated annual costs to run this refrigerator are only in the $25-30 dollar range, making it very affordable and economical as a second fridge.  The refrigerator doesn’t feature any HCFCs meaning it’s safe for the environment and the air inside your home.  Convenient racks on the door and a separate chiller department make this is a very useful refrigerator for a low price.

  • Small compact design means it can fit virtually anywhere.
  • The door can be fixed to swing open from either the left or right, further increasing the available locations the fridge can be placed.
  • Small size and efficient cooling system mean you will only spend $25-30 per year on running this fridge, making it a great value.

The Midea 1.7 cubic foot refrigerator white works great as a secondary fridge for use in the garage or basement.  It can also be used by college students who are strapped for space in their dorm rooms, or office workers that need a fresh snack during the mid-day stretch.

Morphy Richards 48330 Breadmaker Review

I got a phone call from my sister-in-law a few day back saying she had just bought a Morphy Richards 48330 breadmaker and asked if I would like to help her try out her first bake.

I jumped at the chance as I had heard a lot about this inexpensive little bread maker since it´s release in 2010 and I was really looking forward to finding out if all I had heard was true.

The first thing I noticed was just how compact the Morphy Richards 48330 breadmaker was. It hardly took up any space on her worktop at all. It´s also very light, so you could easily pick it up and store it in a cupboard. It comes in a white cool touch finish with very easy to follow controls.

I would have to say this bread maker would best be described as a basic model. But, having said that, it does come with 5 baking programs. These allow you to bake white bread, whole-wheat, quick bread, pizza base, rolls,  and dough. So all in all it can do what the majority of more expensive machine can too.

But, the big question is, does it do it as good?

Using the measuring items, that comes with the machine, we followed the recipe book to make a standard loaf. This is where I was able to advise her to make sure she measured out the correct amount of ingredients to make the perfect loaf.

Unfortunately the Morphy Richards 48330 breadmaker does not come with a timer although there are a series of bleeps to let you know what stage the bake is at, and there is also a viewing window for you to check the bread too.

To bake a standard loaf takes about two and a half hours, although there is a fast bake program which will produce a loaf in 1hr 30 minutes.

We left the machine to go about it business while we had a coffee. I have to be honest I was immediately impressed at how quiet this little bread maker was. Having owned older and bigger machines I am used to hearing them banging and whirring away in the background. But not this Morphy Richards breadmaker. Very impressive!

I must admit, when we removed the loaf from the baking pan the paddle did stay in the bread although the machine does comes with a small attachment to hook it out. My sister-in-law has since told me she now oils the paddle before putting the ingredients in and this no longer happens.

After 90 minutes what we ended up with was a perfect 1 lb loaf of bread that looked and tasted beautiful.

Being only 1 lb would not be big enough for my family but is an ideal size for 1 – 2 people. My sister-in-law told me she had got fed up buying supermarket bread that she had to throw away because they were too big to finish before they went stale.

That was something I´d never thought of before and I can see why Morphy Richards produced this machine as it is ideal for a couple or single person living on their own.

I phoned my sister-in-law a couple of days later to see how she was getting on with her new Morphy Richards 48330 breadmaker. She said she loved it, but while experimenting a bit discovered that to use the Extra Bake the first bake had to finish and then be started again on Extra Bake. Other than that she thought the machine was extremely simple to use and produced fantastic tasting bread.

Morphy Richards 48330 Pro´s
This is a great little bread maker that is extremely inexpensive and ideally suited for a couple or single person. Considering it is a basic entry level model, that is small and light enough to be stored in a cupboard, it makes fantastic bread. And the price is the lowest I´ve ever seen from a brand name like Morphy Richards.

Morphy Richards 48330 Con´s
The main thing that goes against this bread maker is the lack of a timer. So won´t be able to wake up to a fresh loaf of bread with this machine. Also with this bread maker you aren´t able to make cakes or jam either.

Morphy Richards 48330 Breadmaker Benefits

  • Bakes a 1 lb (0.45kg) loaf. Ideal for couples or single people
  • Produce a loaf in 1 hr 30 min using the Fastbake program
  • Able to control crust cooking level
  • 5 baking programs
  • Keep warm function
  • Viewing window
  • Instruction Manual with good range of recipes

Morphy Richards 48330 Breadmaker Reviews

Considering the Morhpy Richards 48330 breadmaker was only released in 2010 it has managed to produce a good number of very positive reviews.

The majority of people are more than happy with the size of loaf it produces and the fact the bread tastes so good. The machine being very compact, quiet and easy to use was also mentioned.

Obviously one of the biggest selling points of this machine is its extremely low price.

It has to be mentioned though that there were a small number of grumbles about this machine. Some people complained the size of the loaf was far too small. But the machine clearly states it bakes a 1 lb loaf of bread so what did they expect.

A few others complained the bread didn´t taste good. But I am inclined to think this was more to their fault rather than the machines as so many other people had raved about the quality of the bread.

As a low cost, easy to use entry level machine, and bearing in mind all the positive reviews and my own experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending you purchase this bread maker.

I’ve found that the best place to buy the Morphy Richards 48330 breadmaker is at Amazon. They currently have the best price and include free shipping for this product.

Panasonic SD-257WXC Bread Maker Reviews

The high number, and quality, of reviews from people who have bought this model seems to be the norm for the Panasonic range of bread makers. We also noted this with another Panasonic breadmaker we reviewed.

Reviewers who had purchasd the Panasonic SD-257WXC remarked on the variety of other items that can be made other than just bread. People commented on the fact they had made delicious tasting cakes, hot cross buns, croissants, Viennese rolls, gingerbreads and soda bread.

With that in mind we have no difficulty in highly recommending the Panasonic SD-257WXC bread maker above all others.

Morphy Richards 48319 Breadmaker Review

In 2010 Morphy Richards introduced a brand new design to their range of breadmakers of which the Morphy Richards 48319 Premium Plus breadmaker is one of.

This new design allows the loaf to be more oblong in shape rather than upright that the older Morphy Richards bread makers produced.

Will it fit on your worktop?
I find the look of this new design quite appealing although I must admit, compared to previous Morphy Richards bread makers, it does look quite bulky.

With that in mind you may well want to consider where abouts in your kitchen you will put this machine. The dimensions are 375 x 330 x 290mm, just so that you can measure up, although with a cable length of 85cm you should be able to find somewhere near enough to a socket.

I thought the brushed stainless-steel and black finish looked very stylish although on closer inspection it did feel a little bit flimsy.

What´s it like to use?
I think using the Morphy Richards 48319 Premium Plus breadmaker is actually very simple, well once you have read through the manual first that is. One thing that seemed to fool a lot of people is the fact that to activate the machine you have to keep the start button pressed down for a full three seconds after you have selected the program you want on the LCD displays.

Once I mastered that I found all the setting very easy to use. You can even set your own timings using the customisable settings.

What can it do?
All in all there are 19 different programs that include white bread, French bread, whole-wheat, quick bread, sweet bread, gluten free, pizza base, dessert, dough and bake. Loaf sizes are 1lb, 1.5lb and 2lb, and you can choose between 5 different crust setting.

The Morphy Richards 48319 Premium Plus breadmaker is also suitable for making jam and cakes should you want to, I tend not to bother making jam but I think being able to make cakes is a real bonus.

To bake a standard white loaf takes 3 hours, but there is a fast bake option that will only take 70 minutes, and you can always keep an eye on how the bake is going through the viewing window. There is also a keep warm feature that will keep the bread warm for up to one hour.

If you want to wake up to fresh bread each morning this machine comes with a 12 hour delay timer.

Anything special?
The Morphy Richards 48319 Premium Plus breadmaker has a collapsible kneading blade so that once the mixing and kneading is complete it folds down and does not make a whole in the bottom of the bread.

Well that is the idea anyway! I found it was often quite hit and miss. Sometimes it worked, other times it didn´t. Although I have to say if you put a little bit of oil on the swivel joint it does work better.

I thought the fruit and nut dispenser was a very useful addition to the Morphy Richards 48319 breadmakerand something you don´t often see in machines other than the more expensive bread makers. It allows you to place all the fruit and nut ingredients in in one go and the machine automatically includes them when needed.

In my opinion the 600W motor on this machine was reasonably quite as it went through its processes, although I have heard other people say they thought it was quite noisy. I guess this depends on what you are used to. Personally didn´t find in any noisier than most other machines although I have come across some that were a little quieter.

Morphy Richards 48319 Pro´s
This is a good quality machine from a respected manufacturer that is packed with features and programs you would normally only fin on a more expensive machine. It is easy to use and produces good results on many different bread styles and bakes. It is a stylish design and good value for money.

Morphy Richards 48319 Con´s
More bulky than previous designs although has a rather flimsy feel to it and can sometimes move around on the worktop when going through the kneading process. The brushed stainless-steel finish looks very nice but does attract finger prints. The LCD screen back light turns off too quickly.

Morphy Richards 48319 Premium Plus Breadmaker Benefits

  • 19 Programs including gluten free
  • 1lb, 1.5lb and 2lb loaf sizes
  • 5 crust settings
  • Collapsible kneading blade
  • LCD display
  • 70 min fast bake time
  • Suitable for jam and cake making
  • Add ingredients signal
  • Automatic ingredients dispenser
  • Keep warm function

Morphy Richards 48319 Premium Plus Breadmaker Reviews

From my own experience and the research I have carried out I have found that the majority of people who purchased the Morphy Richards 48319 Premium Plus breadmaker were very pleased with their purchase.

Although there are not as many reviews for this machine as maybe there are for others, the overall impression is that this bread maker is very easy to use, produces good quality bread and is packed with useful features.

The general opinion is that this bread maker offers good value for money and with that in mind I am pleased to recommend this bread maker to you.

Panasonic SD-2500WXC Bread Maker Review

I was intrigued when I first saw the release of the Panasonic SD-2500WXC bread maker as it looked and sounded very much to me like the excellent SD-2501 model.

So, I made it my business to find out what was so different about this new bread maker.

As with the SD-2501WXC it has the new design shape that allows the bread pad to be placed in the machine from front to back.

It too has a variety of different benefits such as 9 bread and dough modes, a jam and compote mode, a speciality mode and being able to bake three different loaf sizes.

The Panasonic SD-2500WXC bread maker also has a 100% gluten free mode.

So, so far no different than the SD-2501 model!

So, what is the difference?
There is in fact one quite distinct difference between the two models. Well two actually!

The first difference is that the Panasonic SD-2500WXC bread maker has no raisin nut dispenser. It simply bleeps to let you know when its time to put these ingredients into the machine.

And the second difference? The price!

The Panasonic SD-2500WXC bread maker is a good 20 pounds cheaper than the SD-2501 model (depending where you but it from).

So if you are looking for the quality and benefits that the SD-2501 bread makers offers, but you do not want or need the raisin nut dispenser, then the Panasonic SD-2500WXC bread maker is the one for you!

For a more comprehensive review of what the Panasonic SD-2500WXC is capable of, read my review of theSD-2501 model

Panasonic SD-2500WXC Pro´s
Improvements include the new diamond fluoro coating on both the bread pan and the kneading blade. The new Jam and Compote Mode. The new Speciality Mode for using Rye and Spelt flours. You also have the ability to bake 100% gluten free bread.

Panasonic SD-2500WXC Con´s
Unfortunately you are not able to set the timer on the dough only programs. There is no raisin nut dispenser, only a bleep that lets you know when its time to put these ingredients in. The end of cycle beep may be too quiet for some people and unfortunately there is no facility to adjust the volume.

Panasonic SD-2500WXC Bread maker Benefits

  • 9 different Bread and Dough modes
  • New Jam and Compote modes
  • A Digital Timer that can be used up to 13 hours
  • 100% Gluten Free bread program
  • New Speciality Mode

Panasonic SD-2500WXC Bread maker Reviews

From my initial research into this bread maker I didn´t find as many people leaving comments as you might have thought, but that is more than likely because it was only recently released onto the market.

But, those who have bought and commented on the Panasonic SD-2500WXC bread maker have been very impressed indeed. As we have come to expect from all of the Panasonic bread makers, those who have purchased this model have raved about it. I have even heard it called the Rolls Royce of bread makers!

So if you want to buy one of the best bread makers on the market, but want to spend a little less by not having the raisin nut dispenser, this could well be the model for you.

I have found the best place to buy the Panasonic SD-2500WXC automatic bread maker is at Amazon. They currently have the best price and include free delivery for this bread maker.

Russell Hobbs 18036 Breadmaker Review

I had wanted to try out the Russell Hobbs 18036 breadmaker for some time and had been pestering a friends wife to let me borrows hers. Last week I got a phone call from her saying I could use it for a couple of days as they were going away for a long weekend and wouldn´t need it.

She told me in no uncertain term to be careful with her pride and joy as she would be lost without it. Assuring her I would treat it with the up most care I popped round to collect it.

Finally I ´d got my hands on a Russell Hobbs 18036 breadmaker and quickly set about putting it through its paces.

My fist impression was that it was very user friendly, and I liked the clear and easy to follow instruction manual. I was also pleased to see it had a good sized viewing window. Even some of the more expensivebread makers don´t have that.

Something else that impressed me was just how well written the recipe booklet was. It was written in everyday language that even managed to include a little bit of humour, but most of all it was very easy to follow.

Being a bit impatient I decided to go for the fast bake option giving me a loaf in just under an hour. So following the recipe booklet I loaded the necessary ingredients into the bread pan ready to start baking.

I must say I was a little bit disappointed at this point to find the Russell Hobbs 18036 breadmaker didn´t come with either a measuring cup or spoon supplied, although this was easily overcome.

I found the LCD display very easy to use and understand. In fact the Russell Hobbs 18036 breadmaker is easy enough for anyone to use.

There are 12 programs available allowing you to make anything from the basic loaf to French wholewheat, cake, pizza dough and even jam. You can choose between three different loaf sizes, small, medium and large and choose a crust setting from light, medium to dark.

It also has a 13-hour delay timer for those of you who like to wake up to a fresh loaf each morning. TheRussell Hobbs 18036 breadmaker also has a keep warm function for this purpose too.

The 600 watt motor goes through the baking process nice and quietly only making a bleeping noise when its time to add any additional ingredients like nuts or raisins.

And the finished result? After just under an hour I was impressed with a nice crispy loaf that tasted excellent. I also liked the fact that the finished loaf was what I consider to be the correct shape, oblong, and not tall and square. Although that´s just my opinion!

Russell Hobbs 18036 Pros
A good mid-range bread maker that is easy to use, comes with a good recipe book and many extra functions you might only expect from a more expensive machine. This compact machine should fit easily onto anyones worktop being only 290 mm x 322mm x 296mm.

Russell Hobbs 18036 Cons
I think it would have been better if Russel Hobbs had included a measuring cup and spoon, most other manufacturers supply these items with their machines, although you could say the 18036 bread maker is no frills machine.

Russell Hobbs 18036 Breadmaker Benefits

  • 3 loaf sizes 1lb, 1.6lb and 2.2 lb
  • 55 minute fast-bake option
  • 13-hour delay timer
  • 12 programs
  • Keep warm function
  • Dishwasher safe non-stick pan and kneading blade.

Russell Hobbs 18036 Breadmaker Conclusion

From my research I discovered plenty of good reviews for the Russell Hobbs 18036 breadmaker, a large majority being very positive. Lots of reviewers remarked about how easy to use this machine was and how the recipe booklet was so well written, even including a gluten free recipe.

A useful function the some people commented on was the pause button which allowed them to temporarily stop the machine if they wished to.

On the negative side, I did see a comment over the use of metric measurements. This was from one of the older users who would have liked both metric and imperial.

Another one concerned the baking pan not being dishwasher proof despite the manufacturers claims. But there are others that counter that saying they are more then pleased with the pan. A suggestion was to fill it with warm soapy water and stand for an hour and then the pan and mixing paddle easily rinse clean, which makes perfect sense.

Over all the impression I got from using the Russell Hobbs 18036 breadmaker, and from the comments of those who had already purchased one, is that it is a competatively priced mid-range bread maker that offers a lot of function normally only found in more expensive machine.

With that in mind I would have no hesitation in recommending this bread maker to you.

I have found the best place to buy the Russell Hobbs 18036 breadmaker is at Amazon. They currently have the best price and include free delivery on this bread maker.

Kenwood BM250 Bread Maker Review

My friend Jean recently bought a Kenwood BM250 bread maker after much sole searching. As I had read a lot of good things about this particular bread maker I asked her if she would let me know what she thoughts of it.

So I asked Jean what made her choose this particular bread maker. She told me that after looking into lots of different bread makers she was attracted to the Kenwood BM250 because it allowed her to bake white and wholewheat bread as well as

The fact the Kenwood BM250 bread maker can bake three different sized loaves from 500g, 750g or 1 kg and gives you the option to chose light, medium or dark crust settings was also something Jean said she liked.

But one thing that she said really impressed her was that the rapid bake took just 58 minutes. I know Jean works full time and has two young children so I could see why this would be such a benefit for her.

Looking over the machine myself I was pleased to see a large viewing window. I have used some of the most expensive bread makers which didn´t have this window and I was always tempted to lift the lid and see how things were doing and probably ruin everything.

I asked Jean how she found using the Kenwood BM250 bread maker. She said she really liked the clear LCD screen which showed her how much time was left on the bake and how the buttons are clearly marked in a chrome finish.

Another thing that Jean said helped her choose the Kenwood BM250 bread maker was the 15 hour delay timer which lets her wake up to freshly baked bread each morning. There´s even a 1 hour keep warm function.

Jean mentioned that the machine had an 8 minute power interruption memory restart program, although she said she didn´t have a clue what it was for. I told her I thought it was in case of a small power cut, which she thought was a really good idea.

The Kenwood BM250 has a manual and a recipe book, plus a measuring cup and spoon all included. Jean did say though, you need to read through the instructions booklet first, because she didn´t and the first loaf was OK but not as good the second one after she had read everything.

So, some good advice there from Jean I think!

So to finish I asked Jean if she could sum the main reasons she decided to buy the Kenwood BM250 bread maker compared to all the others she looked at. Without any hesitation she said two words – price and Kenwood.

She said although there were a lot of other bread makers that did the same as hers not many did them at the price she wanted to pay. Plus, the fact it was a Kenwood, she knew it would be a quality machine as her Mum had had a Kenwood food mixer for many years and now wouldn´t be without it.

Kenwood BM250 Bread Maker Pros
A competitively priced mid range bread maker from the quality product range of Kenwood. It´s easy to use with an informative booklet. The viewing window is a good size and the alarm bleeps are loud enough for you to hear to add in extra ingredients.

Kenwood BM250 Bread Maker Cons
Kenwood could make some improvements to the bread tin which can sometimes become loose when placed into the machine. The kneading arm quite often gets stuck in the bread after baking. May seem a little noisy to some people.

Kenwood BM250 Bread Maker Benefits

  • 12 programs for normal white bread, to Jam making facility
  • 500g, 750g or 1kg loaf settings
  • Light, medium or dark crust setting
  • Removable lid for easier cleaning
  • Keep warm function
  • 15 hour hour delay timer

Kenwood BM250 Bread Maker Conclusion

From the research I carried out into the Kenwood BM250 bread maker I found a large number of people posting positive reviews. The majority of them remarked on how easy to use it was and how they would recommend this bread maker for enthusiastic beginners.

This machine comes complete with a recipe book but Kenwood also have an excellent website where you can easily download lots of other wonderful recipes for the BM250 Bread Maker.

Many people commented on how the price they paid for this bread maker was nearly half as much as some other machines and yet it offered more or less the same functions.

As I have mentioned though, one concern that did crop up was over the loose fitting bread tin. Although I have since read how this can be overcame by fitting a stripe of wire under the clips in a zigzag shape and over the basket which seemed to stop any movement.

The overall impression from my research into the Kenwood BM250 bread maker is that this is a good quality mid range bread maker with an extremely competitive price tag that features as many functions as its more expensive rivals.

Sporting the brand name of Kenwood should give anyone buying the machine complete peace of mind.

With all this in mind I would have no hesitation in giving the Kenwood BM250 my recommendation.

I have found the best place to buy the Kenwood BM250 bread maker is at Amazon. They currently have the best price and include free delivery for this bread maker.
